Last of 2011 rides!

Friday had been so overcast in the morning that all the day's rides were cancelled.  Of course it cleared up about 1pm and we could have flown at least 4 of them!

My friend Jay built and flys a high-performance Cozy which provides a very different aviation experience from that which my passengers get on one of our rides.  Just a glance at a picture of his plane tells a story:

Jay's father Holger was visiting from his home in Denmark and Jay wanted him to experience a glider ride so off we went for the Silver Hawk ride after the obligatory family picture:

It was a very quiet ride as I didn't speak or understand even one word of Danish!
Holger is looking down on the San Justo reservoir and San Juan Oaks golf course with the city of Hollister and the Diablo range in the distance from a 4500' tow out over Fremont Peak:

Chris and his daughter Nicole enjoyed their Silver Hawk ride:

Oliver liked being in the front seat with the great view:

Pat's birthday ride was a success as she got to experience the view and some exciting maneuvering:

Caitlyn and her mother stand in front of the glider that Caitlyn flew for the first time.  She told me of her one powered-aircraft lesson and was excited about learning to fly.  After we released from the towplane on her Mile High Ride she flew most of the flight back to the airport and got better and more comfortable with each passing moment of operating the controls. A very quick study with "the right stuff"!  She can go anywhere in aviation with the attitude and skill she showed me.
